~ About Springerle ~
Creating Springerle is a type of art form, and a very time intensive process. Whisking eggs, sugar, butter and flour to the proper consistency can take over an hour!
The dough is then rolled and each cookie is individually hand-molded to imprint the beautiful, intricate details.
In order to preserve the meticulous pattern, the cookies are allowed to dry 24 hours, before baking in a slow oven, up to an hour.
